Definition: Growth hormone is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland, which regulates growth and development. Having too little or too much growth hormone can cause abnormalities like dwarfism or gigantism, respectively.

Some people take growth hormone supplements in an attempt to boost their muscle mass development, but it can be dangerous to take human growth hormone while not under the care of a physician.
