Definition: Estradiol is the form of estrogen produced by the ovary, and is what is measured during routine infertility monitoring. Your estradiol level should start low (under 60ng) at the beginning of your menstrual cycle, rise to about 200ng to 250ng per mature follicle, and then fall again around ovulation. Estradiol levels will then begin to rise again as the empty egg follicle begins to secrete estrogen and progesterone.
Also Known As: estrogen e2
