Alright, I admit it. I am an emotional eater. This usually doesn't work out so well for me around the holidays. Besides the everyday stresses of working and raising a very active toddler, the additional time needed to shop (my husband has a very large family), decorate the house and bake cookies usually has me eating way more cookies then is probably healthy.
Women with PCOS need to be especially careful about the pounds they may put on during the holiday season. As you know, carrying extra weight can increase insulin resistance, increase androgen production and worsen symptoms.
Personally, I've made it my goal to put my health first this season. Cleaning and vacuuming can wait until I've finished my daily workout. And I've made a commitment to keeping a regular food diary again. Somehow, just having to write down exactly how many cookies I've indulged in that day makes me more willing to pick up an apple instead.
